Social Dances / “4th Friday’s”

Social Dances are a great way to meet other dancers, practice what you have learned or are learning during your private lessons or group classes, and in general- just have FUN!  Typically, at a social dance you will get to dance to a variety of recorded music, with each song coinciding with a specific social dance style. (ie.. Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Rumba, Tango, etc..)

Travis hosts a Social Dance (ages 16+) on the 4th Friday evenings from 7:45-9:00 pm directly following a Group Class from 7:00-7:45 pm at Bend’s Community Center. Cost is $10.00 pp and includes the class and dance. (see below):

Encouraging Words for Beginners: Because there is a wide range of people at a social dance, skills and experience levels vary greatly. However, everybody starts out as a beginner. If you are a new to dancing, note that most of the better dancers have been working at it for quite some time. Try not to get discouraged. It may take a few months for you to feel comfortable dancing. Even then, nobody ever learns everything. In fact, the teachers spend as much time as anybody improving their dancing. Avoid dwelling on what you know or don’t know. More importantly, please remember that lacking prior experience does not preclude anybody from enjoying the dance. This is supposed to fun, above all else.
